Woman charged in baby’s death

July 26, 2011 By WRN Contributor

Charges have been filed against a Polk County mom in the death of her young daughter.

On the evening of July 11th, Jennifer Kuhn found her two-year-old daughter Allaina Kuhn under a dresser in her room. It appeared the dresser fell on the girl. The dresser weighed 40 to 50 pounds and it usually had a 20 pound TV on it.

Polk County District Attorney Dan Steffen says, in the state’s opinion, with underlying “negligent” action this death was not just an accident. The DA says the baby was left alone for seven hours while the 25-year-old mother and her boyfriend were sleeping in the other room.

Kuhn faces up to 25 years in prison and $100,000 in fines if convicted.
