The Green Bay Gamblers have announced the hiring of Denver University Assistant Hockey Coach Derek Lalonde (pronounced la-Lone) as the team’s new head coach/general manager. Lalonde becomes the Gamblers 6th head coach/GM.
Lalonde spent the past five seasons at Denver where he assisted in all aspects with the program, including recruiting, video breakdown, goaltending and skill development. In his five seasons with the Pioneers, the program posted a 122-63-19 record. Lalonde comes to the Gamblers with 9 years of collegiate coaching experience.
Prior to Denver, Lalonde spent four seasons as an assistant at Ferris State where he helped the bulldogs to a 76-67-12 record.
Lalonde was a four-year member (1990-95) of SUNY Cortland State University’s men’s ice hockey team, concluding his career as the program’s holder of four goaltending records.
