Milwaukee to host Nat’l Governors Assocation meeting

August 30, 2011 By Brian Moon

The National Governors Association will be holding its annual meeting in Milwaukee in 2013. Governor Scott Walker made the announcement this morning, drawing on his experience at the NGA meeting held in Salt Lake City last month.

“It’s a unique opportunity for governors to come together from both political parties, to talk about the challenges we face state by state.”

Walker says the gathering will help create “a buzz” about Wisconsin’s largest city with world class attractions such as the Milwaukee Art Museum, Summerfest and the lakefront. He adds the city will be decked out for the 110th anniversary celebration of Harley Davidson taking place a few weeks after the NGA meeting.

As to why the Association chose Milwaukee, the Governor says one reason may be security concerns. Instead of participants being spread all over the city, the venue affords the opportunity to have the convention and lodging in one place.
