August 22, 2011 By Bill Scott

Mike McCarthy came to his Monday news conference armed with injury news and it isn’t good for linebacker Frank Zombo.  The 2nd

Frank Zombo

year Green Bay Packers outside linebacker found out he’ll miss some time after suffering a fractured scapula during pregame warmups on Friday night.  Zombo played through the injury thinking it was just a bruise.

Zombo was hit by fullback John Kuhn’s helmet during warmups, but it was an accidental collision.

The Packers offered no time-table for Zombo’s return.  Zombo said it’ll be tough to start the season injured.

The number that’s being thrown out there is a 4 to 6 week time period.

Zombo started 9 of 14 games he played last year and registered five sacks.  He was battling with Erik Walden and Brad Jones for the starters job in this training camp.  Walden had the lead, but Zombo was having a good camp.

Brad Jones also suffered a sprained knee, so the Packers will use the injuries to give undrafted rookies Vic So’oto and Jamari Lattimore more opportunities.

Also on the teams injury report today, rookie Randall Cobb didn’t practice.  He suffered knee contusions to both knees in Friday’s 28-20 win over Arizona.  First round pick Derek Sherrod also suffered a knee sprain.
