Appleton soldier killed in Afghanistan

September 20, 2011 By WRN Contributor

A 25-year-old soldier from Appleton was killed in Afghanistan over the weekend. Sergeant Garrick Eppinger, Junior was a member of the Army Reserve’s 395th Ordnance Company. Eppinger was on his third tour of duty and he was serving with about 100 soldiers from the Appleton-based unit.

Sergeant Rebecca Vandehey, the rear detachment commander for the 395th Ordinance Company, says Eppinger cared a lot about his family and was always willing to help someone.
