A Madison-based public interest law firm has concluded its statewide tour to educate Wisconsinites about BadgerCare Plus. ABC for Health Assistant Director Brynne McBride says she was surprised at how many people believed the program had been stamped out. She emphasizes BadgerCare Plus is still around.
“If you have children in the home it doesn’t matter if you’re very low income, moderate income, you might be able to get your children covered through this program,” says McBride.
The tour also involved teaching current recipients as to how to remain in the subsidized health care program.
Brynne credits to a number of advocates who helped with the outreach effort including HealthWatch Wisconsin, women’s groups, schools and local/county health providers.
The BadgerCare Express Team rolled through Milwaukee, Ashland, Eau Claire, Green Bay and Appleton before finishing in Madison.
