The state Department of Transportation reminds Badger fans to plan for traffic congestion on the way to the game in Madison — given the fact that there’s also a Brewers game at Miller Park in Milwaukee and a Packers game at Green Bay’s Lambeau Field. Add to that the likelihood that some will be getting an early start on the Labor weekend, and the potential exists for traffic delays. Traffic supervisor Angela Adams doesn’t anticipate any issues, since work crews won’t be on the roads and she doesn’t expect lane closures in Rock, Dane and Jefferson counties due to construction.
“We’ve had problems in the past with having work zones functioning at the same time as some of our sporting events,” said Adams. “We definitely have been trying to keep and eye on that . . . to make sure that we’re watching those events and not contributing to the already increased traffic.” However with the large amount of traffic on the roads, one crash can lead to an hours-long delay. Highway service teams will be on-call to respond to such incidents.
