Wrestler returns to roots for fundraiser

September 20, 2011 By Brian Moon

Western Wisconsin’s own prodigal son on-the-mat returns. Trevor Brandvold, originally from River Falls, will be at the Badger Wrestling Club Golf Outing this Saturday in Hudson.

Brandvold coaches the Club and is also Volunteer Assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin where he picked up two Big Ten Championships and was twice awarded All-American status.

The River Falls native came from strong wrestling family roots as his father was head coach of the high school’s program.

In helping organize the golf outing, Brandvold sees it as a way to give back to the community and encourage kids to continue wrestling after high school. “To be able go back to my home area and hopefully see a bunch of Badger wrestling fans is going to be great,” says the 2011 UW-graduate.

Proceeds from the Sept 24 golf outing will go to the Badger Wrestling Club, a non-profit dedicated to improving the quality of the sport in Wisconsin.
