Big Ten suspends MSU’s Gholston

October 20, 2011 By Bill Scott

The Big Ten Conference announced that it will impose a one-game suspension on Michigan State University football player William Gholston for violating the Big Ten Sportsmanlike Conduct Agreement during Michigan State’s game against Michigan on Oct. 15, 2011.

The Big Ten determined that Gholston’s actions at the end of the third quarter of the Michigan contest violated a Big Ten Conference Agreement which prohibits a student athlete from “Striking or attempting to strike or otherwise physically abusing an official, opposing coach, spectator or athlete.”  The conference office also publicly reprimanded Gholston for his actions.

That means Gholston will have to sit out this Saturday’s game against 4th ranked Wisconsin in East Lansing.
