Green Bay soccer team blanks Badgers

October 20, 2011 By Bill Scott

The Wisconsin men’s soccer team was shutout 2-0 on a cold, windy night in Green Bay on Wednesday.  The loss drops the Badgers to 7-5-2, while the Phoenix improve to 7-5-1.

After winning the coin toss, Green Bay chose to play the first half with the wind at their backs.  It was a choice that proved to be the right one as the Phoenix scored the eventual game-winner just nine minutes into play.  A wind-aided corner kick from Stuart Grable was converted into a header by Alonso Flores to give Green Bay a 1-0 lead.

Green Bay outshot Wisconsin 9-0 in the first half.  The Badgers turned the tables in the second half, out shooting Green Bay 7-2, but they fell short on the scoreboard.
