Green Bay women picked to win Horizon League

October 20, 2011 By Bill Scott

For the fourth consecutive season, the Green Bay women’s basketball team has been picked to finish first in the Horizon League preseason poll released on Wednesday.  Green Bay received 29 out of a possible 30 first-place votes.

Green Bay won its record 13th-consecutive regular season Horizon League championship during the 2010-11 campaign, running the conference table with an 18-0 record for the second time in three seasons.  Its 34-2 record, the best in program history, was capped off with a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament and a No. 9 ranking in the national polls.

Cleveland State, who finished third last season in the conference, was picked second in this year’s preseason poll, followed by Wright State third.  2010-11 conference runner-up Butler was picked to finish fourth in the poll.

In state rival UW-Milwaukee was picked to finish 6th in the preseason poll.
