Hockey Badgers earn split with NMU

The Wisconsin Badgers came from behind to knock off Northern Michigan 3-2 Saturday night at the Kohl Center and earn a split of their season opening weekend series.

Derek Lee scored the game-winner at 16:16 of the third period.  Tyler Barnes and Michael Mersch also tallied goals for the Badgers, while junior defenseman Justin Schultz had three assists.

Joel Rumpel had 31 saves for Wisconsin (1-1-0) to earn the win.

The Badgers suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to the Wildcats on Friday night.
