Packers great Gillingham passes away (AUDIO)

October 21, 2011 By Bill Scott

One of the greatest guards to ever wear a Green Bay Packers uniform, Gale Gillingham, died this Thursday at the age of 67.  Gillingham passed away while lifting weights in the garage of his Little Falls, Minnesota home.

Gillingham was the first round draft pick of the Packers in the 1966 draft.  He played in 128 games and made the pro bowl 5 times.

Gillingham played off the bench for a Super Bowl Championship team as a rookie before replacing Fuzzy Thurston at left guard in 1967.
