After a pair of crushing losses in October to Michigan State and Ohio State, the Wisconsin Badgers Big Ten title hopes are back in the
picture, following Saturday’s 42-13 win over the Minnesota Gophers at TCF Bank Stadium.
The Badgers win, coupled with losses by both Ohio State and Penn State earlier in the day and the Badgers regained control of their own destiny, improving to 8-2 overall and 4-2 in the Big Ten Conference. If the Badgers win at Illinois this Saturday and at home against Penn State the following week, they will have captured the Big Ten Leaders Division and would advance to the first ever Big Ten title game.
Russell Wilson completed 16 of 17 passes for 178 yards and four touchdowns, giving him a school record of 25 TD passes, surpassing the previous record of 21 set by John Stocco in 2005.
Montee Ball also added his name to the Badger record books. Ball rushed for 166 yards and two scores on 23 carries giving him 27 touchdowns for the season. That breaks the Big Ten Conference record of 26 held by three different players.
The Badgers now have 8-straight wins over the Gophers, keeping possession of Paul Bunyan’s Axe, something the Badgers has enjoyed since 2003.
