Ball & Borland land Big Ten Weekly honors

November 8, 2011 By Bill Scott

Wisconsin Badger running back Montee Ball and linebacker Chris Borland were named the Big Ten’s offensive and defensive players of the week.

Ball rushed for a career-best 223 yards and scored three touchdowns in Wisconsin’s win over Purdue.  Ball surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the season, pushing his total to 1,076 yards.  His 24 total touchdowns this season, match the school’s single-season  record.  It’s the second time this season that Ball has won the weekly honor.

Borland finished with 11 tackles, including 3.5 for loss, with an interception and two forced fumbles in the Badger victory.   Borland claimed his first weekly honor this season and the second of his career.
