Braun, Fielder win Silver Slugger awards

November 3, 2011 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun and first baseman Prince Fielder each earned Silver Slugger awards on Wednesday. The award is presented to the top offensive player at each position in both leagues.  It’s the fourth straight Silver Slugger award for Braun, which is a franchise record.  Fielder won his second Silver Slugger award.  The first came back in 2007.

Braun hit .332 with 33 home runs and 111 runs batted in this season.  He led the NL with a .597 slugging percentage and finished in the top six in the NL in 11 different offensive categories. Fielder hit .299 with 38 homers and 120 rbi’s this past season.  His 38 homers ranked second in the National League.
