Brewers set to sign Cubs free agent Ramirez

December 12, 2011 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Brewers are reportedly set to sign Cubs free agent third baseman Aramis Ramirez, pending a physical.  Ramirez is considered the top free agent third baseman on the market.

Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal is reporting Ramirez could get between $34 million and $37 million dollars.

Ramirez hit .306 with 26 homers and 93 rbi’s in 149 games in 2011, his 9th season with the Cubs.

Ramirez has a lifetime .270 average and .503 slugging percentage at Miller Park, hitting 15 homers and 25 doubles there.

The Brewers are looking for some offensive help, expecting to lose Prince Fielder in free agency.  Ramirez would play third base for the Brewers.  Milwaukee third basemen last season combined to his .215 with 11 homers, 30 doubles and 67 rbi’s.

The Brewers are expected to announce the deal once Ramirez passes his physical.
