Marquette stays perfect with win in New York

December 7, 2011 By Bill Scott

Jae Crowder hit a three-point basket with 6.3-seconds left to give Marquette a
79-77 win over Washington in the Jimmy V. Classic on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

The 11th ranked Golden Eagles improved to 8-0.

Marquette lost starting center Chris Otule less than 2 minutes into the game when he suffered a sprained left knee.  He was helped off the court and did not return.  The severity of his injury isn’t known.

Darius Johnson-Odom had 23 points to lead the Golden Eagles.  Crowder added 18.

Marquette looks to go 9-0 when they host Green Bay on Saturday.
