Warhawks capture 3rd straight football championship

December 18, 2011 By Bill Scott

The UW-Whitewater Warhawks are back-to-back-to-back NCAA Division III football champions.  The Warhawks knocked off Mount Union 13-10 in Salem, Virginia.

Whitewater took a 44-game win streak into play on Friday night and they extended that streak when a last-minute drive by Mount Union came up short.

Defense was the name of the game in this one.  Whitewater’s Levell Coppage was held to 91 yards and a touchdown in this one, but it was enough to send the Warhawks to their 3rd straight championship and 4th in the last seven years, all over the Purple Raiders.
