Democrats announce Senate recall candidates

January 31, 2012 By Andrew Beckett

The field of candidates is shaping up for expected recall elections against several state senators. Democrats have officially stepped up to run in three of the four recall elections that could be held against Republican lawmakers later this year.

State Representative Donna Seidel of Wausau plans to run against Senator Pam Galloway (R-Wausau), while former state Representative Kristen Dexter of Eau Claire will take on Senator Terry Moulton (R-Chippewa Falls).

It will be a rematch in the 21st Senate District, with former Senator John Lehman of Racine planning to face-off against Senator Van Wanggaard (R-Racine). Wanggaard defeated Lehman in the 2010 elections.

No candidates have announced plans yet to run against Senate Republican Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau), who is also the target of a recall.

Primaries are likely in each of the races for the Democratic nominations.

The state Republican Party called the slate of candidates “nothing more than conveyor belt Democrats who boast records of fiscal catastrophe.”
