Marcum takes step forward

March 19, 2012 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Shaun Marcum pitched two simulated innings with no discomfort against hitters, a big step towards his rejoining the Brewers starting rotation.

Pitching coach Rick Kranitz expects Marcum’s next assignment to be his first Cactus League start of the spring.

The Brewers had a 6-4 lead on the Rangers in Cactus League play yesterday, before the game was called by rain.  It’s the first rainout of a Cactus League game for the Brewers dating back to 2010.

The same two teams meet today.
