Marquette advances to Sweet 16

March 18, 2012 By Bill Scott

Marquette got 17 points from Darius Johnson-Odom and 17 points and 13 rebounds from Jae Crowder as the Golden Eagles (27-7) held off the Murray State Racers (31-2) 62-53 on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles trailed 46-41 with just under seven and a half minutes to play before mounting their comeback.  Marquette will play in the Sweet 16 for the second straight season.

The Racers helped out in the second half, shooting just 31% from 3-point range and just 25% in the second half.

Marquette faces the winner of today’s Florida vs. Norfolk State game next week.
