Prosecutors allege murder for rent money

March 27, 2012 By WRN Contributor

The homicide trial of a New London man is underway in Waupaca County, where prosecutors are alleging that 35 year-old Chad Magolski killed his neighbor because he needed money to pay his rent.

Magolski is charged with stabbing 77 year-old James Park to death in his New London apartment in December of 2007. State attorneys have established that Magolski was late with his December rent, and were expected to introduce evidence of Park’s DNA on money Magolski used to pay the rent.

Park’s son-in-law testified that it was common for Park to carry $120 in a money clip which he kept in his pocket – and at times he carried as much as $1000 in the clip.
