St. Norbert to face Oswego in tonight’s NCAA Division 3 Championship

March 17, 2012 By Bill Scott

The St. Norbert College Green Knights are back in the NCAA Division 3 Frozen Four Championship game for the 3rd straight season

Lake Placid, NY

and 6th time in the last 9 years.  The Knights scored the games first three goals to finish with a 4-1 victory over the nation’s top-ranked team, Norwich University at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York.

Norwich entered the game as the highest scoring team in the nation but the St. Norbert defense shut them down.

The Knights got on the board with a Joe Perry power play goal with 1:40 left in the first period and they would never trail.  It’s the first time St. Norbert has beaten a top ranked team.  They were 0 for 4 previously.

St. Norbert was 2 for 5 on the power play.  Norwich was 1 for 8.

The Green Knights will face Oswego in tonight’s championship game.  Oswego beat Amherst 2-1 in overtime in the other semifinal game last night.
