Wisconsin couple killed in Nebraska

March 22, 2012 By WRN Contributor

A Wisconsin couple has died in a car-semi trailer truck crash on westbound I-80 in Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol reports 69-year-old Michael Philips of Manitowoc lost control of his car attempting to pass a semi while traveling east on the interstate near Ogallala, NB. The car crossed the median, slid into the westbound lanes of I-80 and into the path of the semi.

Both Philips and his wife, 62-year-old Joan Philips, died in the wreck. Neither the driver nor a passenger in the semi were injured.

The patrol closed the interstate for three hours to clean up and investigate the crash.
