Governor Scott Walker says Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett’s late entry into the recall race won’t change his strategy to keep his job. The governor says he’s ready for whoever emerges from the May 8 Democratic primary. Walker says he plans on running on a policy of creating jobs, creating a higher quality of life and keeping finances in order.
Barrett’s announcement shook up the Democratic side of the ticket where former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk was considered the front-runner. Recent polls show either Barrett or Falk would give Walker a close race.
Walker says Falk and Barrett’s policies are “basically the same.” The governor says most Wisconsinites don’t want to go back to the days of “double-digit tax increases, billion dollar budget deficits and record job loss.”
State Senator Kathleen Vinehout and Secretary of State Doug La Follette are also running for the Democratic nomination.
