Benford leaves Marquette for head coaching job

April 25, 2012 By Bill Scott

Marquette‘s associate head coach Tony Benford is taking the head coaching job at North Texas, leaving the Golden Eagles after four years.

Benford is played collegiately at Texas Tech.

Lockett

Shooting guard Trent Lockett, who is transferring out of Arizona State, could be headed for Marquette.  The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Lockett visited the school last week.

The 6’5 Lockett wants to transfer closer to his home in Minnesota to get closer to his mother, who has cancer.  He’s scheduled to graduate from Arizona State on May 1.

Lockett is expected to make a decision in the next couple of weeks.
