Brewers close Cactus League with a loss

April 5, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Milwaukee Brewers will work out at Miller Park this afternoon in

Miller Park

preparation for tomorrow’s regular season opener against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Brewers closed Cactus League play on Wednesday with a 14-3 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Corey Hart homered in his second game back from knee surgery.

Brewers starter Shaun Marcum gave up 5 earned runs on 7 hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Zach Greinke

Brewers right hander Zach Greinke has hired an agent.  Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin plans to talk with agent Casey Close today.  Melvin will ask Close if the two sides can continue to talk about a contract for Greinke during the regular season.

Brewers roster

The Brewers finalized their opening day roster by selecting the contracts of utility infielder Cesar Izturis and first baseman Travis Ishikawa from AAA Nashville.  By keeping Ishikawa, the Brewers sent down utility infielder Brooks Conrad.

Opening Day

The St. Louis Cardinals will send Jaime Garcia to the mound on Friday against the Brewers at Miller Park.  Yovani Gallardo gets the start for the Brewers.
