Broadhurst’s hat trick lifts Gamblers to playoff road win

April 25, 2012 By Bill Scott

Alex Broadhurst scored three short-handed goals to lead the Green Bay Gamblers to a 6-3 victory over the Youngstown Phantoms in the opening round of the United States Hockey League’s (USHL) Clark Cup playoffs.

Broadhurst became the first player in USHL history to score three short-handed goals in a playoff game and playoff season.  He scored a short-handed goal in each period.

Sheldon Dries, C.J. Eick and Grant Arnold also scored for the Gamblers.

The victory gives the Gamblers a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five, first-round series.  Green Bay can end the series with a game 4 win tonight.
