Dodging those orange barrels

It’s April in Wisconsin and that means road construction is in full swing. The season got an earlier start than usual this year, thanks largely to a relatively warm winter and the early arrival of spring. Beth Cannestra many asphalt plants are up and running for the season, far earlier than usual.

It will be a busy year for road crews, with about 450 improvement projects going on statewide. Several of those are major projects that have already been underway for some time.

Larger projects on the Interstate system this summer that could slow down travel include work on the Wisconsin River Bridge in Columbia County and work on Interstate-94 in Kenosha, Milwaukee, and Eau Claire Counties.
