A Columbia County man is hospitalized after being hit by a piece of cement while driving.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says 50-year-old Kevin Droz of Fall River was critically injured Tuesday evening while driving on Interstate 39 near Madison. Police say a softball-sized piece of cement passed through the windshield of his vehicle and struck the victim in the head.
State transportation officials have determined the concrete was not part of an overpass.
The driver was able to reach a hospital in Columbus, and was then transported to UW Hospital in Madison. Droz remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact police.
