The Green Bay Gamblers split their first two games at home against Youngstown last weekend and needed to win one of two games in Ohio to get the series back to Green Bay for a fifth and deciding game.
The Gamblers, who set a regular season USHL record for road victories (25), took matters into their own hands and earned back to back wins against the Phantoms to win the series 3 games to 1.
Youngstown got on the board first, getting on the board early (1:35). The score stayed that way until the 8:34 mark of the third period when Nolan LaPorte scored the unassisted equalizer for the Gamblers.
Sam Herr put the game winner in the back of the net less than 3-minutes later and the Gamblers added a pair of empty net goals to win it 4-1.
Green Bay meets Indiana in the Eastern Conference finals but the schedule for the next round of games hasn’t been set.
