Kottaras leads Brewers past Dodgers

April 18, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Los Angeles Dodgers came to Miller Park on Tuesday night with a 9-1 record, riding a 6-game win streak.  The Milwaukee Brewers busted up that momentum with a 5-4, come-from-behind win over the Dodgers.

Pinch-hitter George Kottaras’ two-run double with one out in the bottom of the 9th inning to bring the Brewers 4-game losing streak to a halt.

Corey Hart singled to lead off the ninth off of Dodgers closer Javy Guerra.  Pinch-runner Carlos Gomez then stole second and Mat Gamel walked.  After striking out Jonathan Lucroy, Kottaras delivered the game winning hit.

Mat Gamel scored all the way from 1st base on the play.  Gamel had two hits, a walk and drove in a run, maybe the best performance of his brief Major League career.

Jose Veras pitched a scoreless 9th for the win.  The two teams play game 2 of the series tonight.
