Narveson could be headed for surgery

April 21, 2012 By Bill Scott

Milwaukee Brewers lefty Chris Narveson has been placed on the disabled list with a tear in his rotator cuff, an injury that could result in season ending surgery.

The Brewers number 5 starter is hoping that surgery can be avoided.  Narveson is hoping rest will do the trick.

The Brewers placed Narveson on the 15-day disabled list Friday, retroactive to April 16.  Right-hander Marco Estrada will start tonight’s game against the Rockies in Narveson’s place.

Narveson is seeking a second opinion.

The team described Narveson’s injury as a tear, but Narveson said it remains unclear and will wait for further opinions.
