Packers tell Collins he’ll be released

April 25, 2012 By Bill Scott

You can add a safety to the Green Bay Packers wish list in this week’s NFL

Nick Collins

Draft.  According to Tom Silverstein’s blog in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this morning, the Packers told Collins they will release him.

Collins recently had tests evaluated by five different neurosurgeons to see if it would be safe for him to return.  Collins wants to play if doctors say he’s able to return to the field without the risk of further injury.  It looks like the Packers aren’t willing to take that risk at all.

Collins ruptured a disk in his neck in Week 2 of last season and underwent fusion surgery.
