WIAA moves State Summer Baseball tournament to Mequon

April 24, 2012 By Bill Scott

The WIAA Board of Control unanimously approved Kapco Field, on the campus of Concordia University in Mequon, as the tournament’s new summer baseball site during its monthly meeting Tuesday at the WIAA offices.

The tournament has previously been held at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point since 1989 and in West Bend previous to that, from 1965 through 1988.

Kapko Field’s FieldTurf surface increases the chance the WIAA can play the tournament all in one day.  This summer’s event is scheduled for July 20.

The stadium will seat about 1,200.

The venue is just one of the changes to the summer tournament.  The tournament field has also been reduced from eight teams to four.
