Gamblers draw Waterloo in Clark Cup Championship series

May 9, 2012 By Bill Scott

The United States Hockey League Championship series will feature the top-seeded Green Bay Gamblers and the Waterloo Blackhawks.

It marks the third time in the past four seasons that the Gamblers and Black Hawks will meet in the post season.

Green Bay won three of the four regular seasons meetings with Waterloo.  The championship series features two of the USHL’s highest scoring teams as Green Bay led the league with 250 goals in the regular season and Waterloo tied for fourth with 213 goals.  Both teams were among the best on home ice as the Gamblers led all USHL teams with 22 victories at home while the Blackhawks tied for second with 21 home victories.

Waterloo last reached the Clark Cup Final series in 2008, falling to the Omaha Lancers in five games.  Green Bay has advanced to the championship series for three straight seasons, winning the Cup in a five-games series with the Fargo Force in 2010 and losing in four games to the Dubuque Fighting Saints last year.
