La Crosse drops NCAA regional opener

WIAC regular season champion UW-La Crosse dropped its first NCAA Division III Midwest Regional baseball game, falling 2-1 to Aurora at UW-Whitewater.

The Eagles were led by Brooks Braga and Jay Fanta, each tallying 2 hits for La Crosse.  Tim Verthein took the loss ont he mound, pitching 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts.

Aurora improved to 37-8, while the Eagles fell to 33-10 on the season.

Thursday’s Day 2 Schedule

10am    Concordia vs. St. Norbert College
  1pm    UW-La Crosse vs. North Park
  4pm   UW-Whitewater vs. St. Thomas
  7pm   St. Scholastica vs. Aurora
