May 21, 2012 By Bill Scott

The 2012 NCAA Division III College World Series begins this Friday at Fox

Fox Cities Stadium

Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, but there will be no local flavor in the 8-team field.

La Crosse, Whitewater and St. Norbert College all performed in the Midwest Regional at Whitewater over the weekend and the Warhawks stayed alive the longest.  But in the end, it was St. Thomas that bumped Whitewater from the field with a 10-6 win on Saturday.

Friday’s opening round schedule looks like this.

10am      Webster (35-12) vs. Wheaton (38-9)
1:15pm   Cortland State (39-7-1) vs. Kean (37-10)
4:30pm  St. Thomas (38-8) vs. Christopher New Port (34-8)
7:45pm  Marietta (43-7) vs. Whitworth (30-14-1)

Top-ranked and defending National Champion Marietta College has won a record five NCAA Division III national championships.
