One of the two state senators who successfully removed a Republican incumbent last summer, kicks off her re-election campaign. Democrat Jessica King told a Fond du Lac crowd last night, it’s been quite a journey for the state over the last 15 months with the governor and Republican majority’s policies.
“It kind of turned into the three hour tour,” said King, referring to the shipwrecked passengers on Gilligan’s Island. “We’re two weeks away from ending our three hour tour.”
On June 5, voters head to the polls in a recall election involving the governor’s office, the lt. governor’s office and four senate districts. King’s district is not one of them.
King said like Republicans, she doesn’t like fraud and waste and believes in accountability, but says that’s where most of the similarities stop.
Fellow Democrats in the legislature Mark Miller, Dave Hansen, Lena Taylor and Gordon Hintz were on hand. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett’s wife Kris was also there in support.
Fond du Lac City Council President Rick Gudex is her Republican opponent.
