Veterans coming home from deployment are finding themselves in need of legal help to deal with problems like foreclosure, divorce and custodial matters. An upcoming resource aims to help Southern Wisconsin veterans take care of these issues.
Ann Zimmerman, director of the Pro Bono Program at UW-Law School, says beginning Veterans Day Nov. 12, they will be offering a free legal clinic. She says it’s available to veterans in Dane County and surrounding counties.
There will be also a representative from the county’s Veterans Service Office to help vets get resources for non-legal issues.
Funding comes from a recent $5,000 grant from the State Bar Legal Assistance Committee. The clinic is modeled after a similar program in Milwaukee.
