The first tornado of the year touched down in a field about six miles west of Wausau around 7 pm Thursday.

Law enforcement confirmed the twister to the National Weather Service. Weather Service meteorologist Ashley Wolf says the last time Wisconsin made it this far in the year without a twister was in 1997.

Wolf says as of now there are no reports of structural damage.
