A victory away from Senate control

June 5, 2012 By Brian Moon

Republicans will have to win all four state Senate races in the recall today to regain control of the chamber. The Senate has been split with 16 Democrats and 16 Republicans since Wausau Republican Pam Galloway stepped down for personal reasons in March. She was facing recall meaning the district is up for grabs with Assembly lawmakers hoping to gain the seat – Republican Jerry Petrowski and Democrat Donna Seidel.

In the hotly contested Racine area, Democrat John Lehman hopes to win back the Senate seat he lost in 2010 to current incumbent Republican Van Wanggaard.

Former Assembly Democrat Kristen Dexter is hoping to oust Chippewa Falls Republican Senator Terry Moulton.

In the Juneau area, Senate Republican leader Scott Fitzgerald is being challenged by the person who spearheaded the recall petitioning against him, photographer Lori Compas.
