Admirals set to name new coach today

June 20, 2012 By Bill Scott

Washington Capitols assistant coach Dean Evason will be named the next head coach of the Milwaukee Admirals at a press conference this morning in Milwaukee.

Evason will replace Ian Herbers, who left to take a college job in Canada a few weeks ago.

Herbers took over 17-games into last season when Kirk Muller left to take the head coaching job of the Carolina Panthers.

Evason was selected by Washington in the 5th round of the 1982 draft and spent 13 seasons in the NHL with the Capitals, Hartford, San Jose, Dallas and Calgary.  He finished with 139 goals and 233 assists in 803 career NHL games.
