Brewers ready for MLB Draft tonight

June 4, 2012 By Bill Scott

The first day of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft gets underway tonight.

The Milwaukee Brewers own three picks on opening night.  They’ll have their own pick, #28, as well as the Tigers pick (27th), as compensation for departed free agent Prince Fielder.  The Brewers will also get a second compensatory pick for Fielder, No. 38 overall, which comes after the first and before the second round.

The Brewers went heavy on pitching in the early rounds the last couple of years and could be looking at some young hitting talent in this draft.
