Driver Charged In Fatal Motorcycle Accident

June 5, 2012 By WRN Contributor

A $75,000 cash bond has been set for the 25-year-old Hilbert man who ran his car into a group of motorcyclists in Fond du Lac County last week killing one and injuring eight others. Clinton Lovelace was charged this morning with 2nd degree reckless homicide, 3 counts of 2nd degree reckless injury, 2nd degree reckless endangering safety and felony bail jumping.

Lovelace was originally arrested on a charge of Homicide by Negligent Operation of a Vehicle and Felony Bail Jumping when he was taken into custody Sunday afternoon. Three of the motorcyclists had to be flown to Theda Clark Regional Medical Center with critical injuries.

A blood sample was taken while he was being treated for his injuries and sent to the state crime lab. It could determine whether he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident on Highway 151 in the Town of Taycheedah last Thursday afternoon. He has pending drug and bail jumping cases in Calumet County as well.
