Lance Roenicke to start second half in Appleton

June 21, 2012 By Bill Scott

After a pair of games for the Helena Brewers, Milwaukee’s Pioneer League

Lance Roenicke

affiliate, outfielder Lance Roenicke will open the second half of the minor league baseball season with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

Lance Roenicke is the son of Brewers skipper Ron Roenicke.  He was the 25th round pick of the Brewers in the 2012 draft.  He played collegiately at the University of California-Santa Barbara.  Lance Roenicke also went 4 for 8 with 3 rbi’s at Helena.

The Timber Rattlers will also open the second half with their supplemental first round pick on the roster.  Mitch Haniger joints the Timber Rattlers after the organization promoted three players.

All-Stars Jason Rogers and Seth Harvey are moving up the ladder to the Brevard County Manatees, Milwaukee’s Florida State League affiliate.  Harvey was the closer for Wisconsin in the first half and had 13 saves with a 14-0 record.

Haniger was selected by the Brewers with a compensatory first round pick out of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in the 2012 draft.  He led the Big West Conference in homers (13), RBI (64) and slugging percentage (.626).

The Timber Rattlers start the second half of the season on the road with the start of a 3-game set at Burlington on Friday night.  They’ll return home for the start of a 6-game home stand on Monday night against Quad City.
