Lawmaker drops out of Photo ID lawsuit

June 21, 2012 By WRN Contributor

State Representative Bob Ziegelbauer (I-Manitowoc) says he’s no longer involved in a lawsuit seeking to preserve Wisconsin’s Voter ID law, following questions about how attorney fees in the case were being paid for.

Liberal group One Wisconsin Now has asked the Government Accountability Board to determine if the Manitowoc Independent and Republican state Representative Robin Vos violated ethics laws with legal help they received to intervene in the case. Ziegelbauer says he respects the ethics code and was concerned about the possibility of a technical violation, so he told the parties involved that he wants his name taken off of the case.

Ziegelbauer says he doesn’t know where any of the money that’s funding the lawsuit is coming from.

A spokeswoman for Representative Vos says they have lawyers working with the GAB to make sure everything is handled properly, but had no other comment at this time.
