Public’s help sought in serial bank robberies

June 21, 2012 By Bob Hague

The public’s help is sought to catch a couple of serial bank robbers. One man is the suspect in a string of bank robberies in eastern Wisconsin, the other in the Madison area, Janesville, Rockford and Dubuque. Leonard Peace is with the FBI’s Milwaukee office. “It’s always greatly appreciated, and at this point a substantial reward is being offered,” he says.

Rose Oswald Poels heads the Wisconsin Bankers Association, offering a $7,000 reward for information leading to the Madison serial bank robber’s arrest. Oswald says the robbery string, dating to last September, is “fairly unprecedented.”

The FBI’s Peace says don’t attempt anything on your own: call the FBI or your local police. “Our goal is to get these suspects into custody as quickly as possible,” he says. Surveillance photos and descriptions are available on the website of the Milwaukee FBI.
