Royals Nip Crew

June 13, 2012 By Bill Scott

The Royals spoil Zack Greinke’s homecoming to Kansas Citywith a 2-1 win last night.  Greinke didn’t disappoint going 7 innings, striking out 8, and gave up just five hits, including a solo blast to Alex Gordon to lead off the game.  Royals starter Luis Mendoza threw six hitless innings before Ryan Braun broke it up with an infield hit to lead off the 7th. Rickie Week’s singled home Aramis Ramirez later in the inning for their only run. Francisco Rodriguez was touched for the game winning run in the 8th inning to get hung with the loss.  The Brewers put runners at the corners in the 9th but Jonathan Broxton notched his 15th save of the season.  The series continues tonight.  Randy Wolf gets the start for the Crew.
